Skill Migration
« on: Yesterday at 08:26:48 AM »
I just read people had the chance to migrate their skillpoints when V2 hit for a limited time. Everyone who didn't, including those who quit in V1 and returned after V2 was introduced, like me, are pretty much fucked it seems. I spend thousands of Gold on becoming Field Marshal, to end up with lvl 6 in all Military Skills and lvl 5 in all Professions. I'm at the point where I've completely given up on training professions anymore in an attempt to make my military skills remotely good in a reasonable time frame again. 3 month old noobs have a better developed char than my two year old one as it stands.

I also hear a rumor that skill migration will be allowed again in the future, but chances are you're going to have to pay for it with Gold, like everything in this game.

So, who else has been affected by this move? Any old-timers coming back, people who were on holiday or temporary two-clicking that want to vent their frustration regarding eRep's fabulous customer service?

In all honesty, you're probably better off having it split like it is.  Flexibility seems to be the best way to go about things, atleast when it comes to working.

Military I can see how that pisses people off.  I wouldn't want to spend any points in Heli, but I wouldn't mind splitting off into Rifle ( Cheap warfare ), Artillery ( For off-line camping ), and Tank ( For active duty ).

The reason why I wouldn't put points into Heli is the simple fact that the biggest advantage of it is to snag tiles with it's mobility.  You can go in as a skill 0 scrub with a Q1 Heli and do that job just fine.

tank is the best military skill - has the highest damage, and can move 2 spots

helicopters can move 3 spots per turn, but have a lot less damage

wages are crap anyway so I dont work that much anyway

I missed the V2 skills migration cause I was on vacation and like you I received level 5 in all job skills, but all my military skills were level 7.
Who knows why.

Happened to a bunch of people, including Vincent Garibaldi and some marines who were on vacation. Honestly, once I get to skill 12 I'm training Heli full time because each new level isn't worth the time invested (it's like +1 critical chance or +10% damage). Also, fighting doesn't get XP anymore, so I would study for at least 1hr/day for the extra XP.

It would take almost a year and a half to advance just +10% in damage from where I stand. In my opinion, the flexibility in combat is far more worth that +10%.  Which is why I haven't trained a day in arty since V2's release, and have trained 100% in infantry. Though looking back, I may actually start training tank.

The skills are exponential now, so you have Skill 6 in 4 skills (and you could have had Skill 8 in one skill).  There's pretty much no difference between skill 8 and skill 6.

I'm skill 11 tank and I'm training other skills primarily.
