I like Zoli. He's intelligent and easy to get along with, and I'm sure he thinks this shatstorm is quite funny. But here is what people are worried about: the unknown. Right now Zoli's intentions for getting eUS citizenship is an unknown quantity. This causes people to look at every option and cover every base. Some people rightfully call this freaking out over nothing.
What if Zoli wanted to screw with us? He surely has more than enough friends that would goad him to get into Congress for the 20-something citizenship requests... People will freak out and start planning on running a candidate or blocker in every region for all top five parties, it will be such a mess, and all Zoli has to do to make this happen is mention that this is his intention. That's it. In a way, I'm kinda looking forward to it, it will be glorious chaos.
Let's say he actually would want to run for Congress. Wouldn't be that hard to find a state that could be won for a handful of votes. He could probably even pick up some votes from oblivious American voters. The party voters would rightfully freak out, move to neutralize the threat and in all likelyhood draw their fire from other contested elections. Again, it would be glorious chaos.
And what if he got in? He'd have two dozen citizenship requests, which in all effect would nullify the months of work of the CTF. What's funny is if he won and put his mind to it, he'd probably be a better Senator than half of the ones we vote in by choice. But that doesn't begin to justify how much fail this could become
I can go on and on, but you can get the idea. I would have rather seen a dozen russian bots get cit than Zoli. This was a really dumb move that will cause a lot of bawwing and rage with a minimal effort from the new American citizen. This is why some are rightfully upset.
