Polish Resistance
« on: January 21, 2010, 04:32:03 PM »
I just checked the news and noticed the huge wave of resistance wars in poland. But for some reason I am not able to participate in any of these fights. Why is that?

Good question! Well, the reason is because you're not in Poland, you're in USA.

There are two kinds of War in this game, Conquest and Resistance.

In Conquest Wars, we can help our allies through MPPs (when they're activated, which require certain conditions).

In Resistance Wars, however, only people whose location is in that nation (in this case, people who are in Poland) can participate. So if you want to participate, buy a moving ticket and fly over to Poland (pick a Q5 Hospital region from Poland's main Society page).

gotcha, so it's because it's a resistance war. Simple 'nuff.

I think I'll stick where I am for now. While I think the fighting in poland is going to be important, I'm only a private. I won't make a big dent in the wars over there, and I've got a job I rather like here.

Yeah, you should stay in the US for the next month probably, as you won't be strong enough to make a difference until then.

Sad but true.

I remember my first month of eRep time, wanting to make a big difference in the battles that mattered, but not having the physical strength to make much of a dent. That's part of why I ran for Congress -- to help in non-physical-strength ways. ;D

Indeed. If the US has the same problem as the UK with people who aren't on the national forum getting into Congress (and I think you do), it would be a good idea for someone like you to be in your Congress since you are in fact forum active.

We don't really have that problem much anymore with better party coordination now.

Dish just suggested something like that on the UK forum and he's being attacked by the party presidents for it. :\

He's obviously been influenced too much by his time in the USA.

I'm sorry to say, sir, but that is because the eUK is full of this thing we here in the eUS like to call "fail." ;)

Anyhow, I got elected to Congress with very little forum activity; what mattered in my case was having an active, non-fail-tastic newspaper and making thoughtful comments on others' articles (yes, back when I actually cared about what I left in Comments...). That's another path to Congress, just a suggestion. :)

I appreciate the support, but I'm not interested in politics at this time. I am scratching my head a bit at maybe putting up a newspaper for a while though. haven't decided yet.

Focus more on getting a q5 house. That should be the first main goal of every new player.

A newspaper is a much better idea than a Q5 house for a new player.

A Q1 house is more than sufficient for anyone working a Q1 or Q2 job.

If on the other hand you're employed at a Q4 or Q5 job, then a Q5 house is a great idea.

I'd also like to point out that houses might expire after a certain time as a feature of V2, so such a large investment of gold in something might not be the best idea right now.

a Q5 house is in fact my current goal, I figure with the gold from hard worker, strength 5, etc... I should be able to scrape up something in a somewhat reasonable period of time. I've got a pretty cozy Q1 job that is treating me well.
